PO wittle perswecuted Quistians

I recently received an e-mail~~~you know, one of those beseeching several people to show their solidarity by returning it to the sender and forwarding it to as many friends as possible. It was seeking 100 Million responses to show the desire to “take our nation back”.
The meat of the letter was as follows:
“In 1952 President Truman established a “National Day of Prayer”.
In 1988 President Reagan designated the first Thursday in May as , “The National Day of Prayer”.
In June 2007 then Candidate Obama declared “The USA is not a xtian nation”.
In 2009 President Obama canceled the “National day of Prayer”, saying “he did not want to offend anyone”.
But, on Sept 25, 2009 a ‘National day of Prayer for the Muslim Religion’ was held on Capitol Hill beside the White House.”
The Letter goes on to say. “HE(Obama) prays with the Muslims”, and “if Christians are offended we obviously don’t count as anyone”.
The letter concludes with:
“The direction this country is headed
should strike fear in the heart of every
Christian,especially knowing that
the Muslim religion believes that if Christians cannot be converted, they should be annihilated.”
I responded as follows:
“In 1796 Geo Washington sent his Ambassador, Joel Barlow, to negotiate a peace treaty with Libya and other Barbary(Muslim) Nations. The treaty was entered into after Washington left office, but was then Submitted to the Senate,Read three times on the Senate floor with NO OBJECTIONS, was published in all the leading periodicals of the day with NO OPPOSITION and was UNANIMOUSLY approved by the Senate and signed into law by President John Adams.
One Article thereof provided:
“Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen(Muslims); and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan(Muslim) nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.“
Who do you think knows more about the founding of our SECULAR government? Washington, Barlow, Adams, and a contemporary UNANIMOUS Senate, OR 20th century xtian historical revisionists like Truman, a Congress operating under fear of Joe McCarthy, the “red scare”, blacklists, and “enemy of the State” list, and Lord Ronnie Raygun?
It would appear Obama is more in line with Washington, Barlow, Adams, and a UNANIMOUS Senate than are those 20th century whining, obsequious politicians.
Moreover, the “Supremacy Clause” of the US Constitution says, “This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.”
Thus, the SUPREME LAW of the Land, under our CONSTITUTION was, as of 1797, “the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.“
Finally, the so-called “Muslim National Day of Prayer” was NOT an event sanctioned by Obama, Congress or any OTHER Governmental agency, Rather, it was merely a group of persons assembling under The First Amendment of the Constitution as Xtians have done for centuries .”
The person who sent me this letter is a good, decent father , grandfather, friend, was a hard worker in a supervisory capacity at a Box Company Plant, and a loyal Republican.
But , he like many other ill-informed dogmatists in our nation BELIEVE everything they read that is consistent with their preconceptions, particularly if it reinforces their delusion that as xtians they are accorded primacy by the Constitution, that all others are “secondarily equal”, and that those who disagree are persecuting them in violation of the Constitution.
