One of the bizarre propaganda tactics of the religious right (our mad, maudlin and medicated moral minority) is to make rape “acceptable” in that it is “no big deal” and women who are impregnated through rape “heal by carrying the fetus to term”. If “rape” can be seen as a minor horror and the consequences of rape, a “blessing”, “an-opportunity-to-witness-the love-of-Christ-to-others-whether-you-want- to-or-not”, then they can push through personhood initiatives which fail, even in Mississippi, because of the rape/incest issue. I’m beginning to think that the religious nuts really want to decriminalize rape as it is one of the methods their crazy god uses to “bless” humanity. I can’t believe we are having this discussion in the 21st century!
