The “Right to choose” is fundamental.
(The following commentary is part of a weekly series called “Yahweh Speaks” by Yahweh. Yahweh is an assumed name to protect his identity on-line. He is a noted free thought advocate and Constitutional attorney. His series airs on my American Heathen® internet radio show. Airdate 09/01/12)
I watched an interview with Ann Romney , during which she said she had several “miscarriages”( the euphemistic way of saying NATURE or her gawd ABORTED the fetuses, or , from her perspective, the babies)
My first thoughts were sympathy for her, Mitt and the Romney kids who were made aware of the losses.
But, then I thought,”If this were Michele Obama , how might others react?” I think the “birthers” would say, “Miscarriage? Sure! Release the long-form medical records”. I think those who claim Obama is a Marxist would say, “I bet they were really abortions paid for on our dime, the government teat!” I think those who “know” Obama is not really a xtian, and “know” HE IS A “SECRET MUSLIM”, would say,” We ‘know’ she really aborted those babies and we ‘know’ they weren’t even Barack Hussein’s own children”.
I posted the above comment on various blog sites last week and got numerous responses, including some who were outraged I would “invade” Ann’s privacy to make political points, and how insensitive I was to her personal loss.
Of course, nothing could be farther from the truth. It was not I who “invaded her privacy”. It was she who CHOSE to make the PUBLIC disclosure. One blogger, whose wife had suffered a couple of miscarriages, said I obviously just could not understand the horrible loss of which Ann was so sadly, eloquently speaking. I responded, “I certainly understand the abject grief, the seemingly insufferable sense of gloom, the ineffable loss. Obviously,I cannot fully appreciate another’s loss…inasmuch as we all grieve differently …and I will never experience the loss of a fetus, stillborn, new born, or child. But, if Ann Romney decides to disclose in a PUBLIC forum her private pain of miscarriages,I certainly UNDERSTAND some of her motives—including political motives, since she made the disclosure during the week of the Republican national convention, and on the day when Hurricane Isaac disrupted the GOP’s plan to kick start their convention with her as the Monday headliner, then I am certainly entitled to make use thereof in a PUBLIC forum. And YOU and all others need UNDERSTAND some of her ulterior motives and UNDERSTAND , if she tries to make political hay from her”private pain”, it’s fair game to cut down that hay, and to use her story for comparative analogous purposes.”
The “Right to choose” is fundamental, whether that choice is made in line with Ann Romney , or whether that choice is made by other Americans at a line drawn elsewhere!
But, this is not intended to be an editorial on Ann, herself, but rather a remonstrance against a certain mindset, including those who would charge others with invading another’s privacy, based on voluntary PUBLIC disclosure and opinions about the motives of those who CHOOSE to disclose. Moreover, it is this same demented mindset that have no OBJECTION, IN FACT, THEY FAVOR THE INVASION OF ALL OTHER WOMEN’S PRIVACY IF THE LOSS which those women may have suffered was never, is never intended to be made public, and which may have been or may be called an “abortion” as opposed to a “miscarriage”.
By their mindset it’s OK for a woman to CHOOSE to disclose her private medical records and procedures, but it not OK for other women to CHOOSE to have and keep their medical records and procedures PRIVATE~~~ beyond the inquiry of nosy neighbors, beyond the officious intermeddling and inquiry of several neighbors acting as government.
I have found over the years it is this same mindset that trumpets freedom of religion, but would deny the right of Muslims to erect a Cultural Center within a few blocks of the Twin Towers.
I have found over the years it is this same mindset that pays lip service to “no establishment of religion”, but wants to use government resources to foist xtianity on everyone else.
I have found over the years it is this same mindset that insists the government should not stop them from inculcating children in public schools with xtiantity, but would wage a “holy war” if the public schools were used to inculcate the children with Hinduism, Buddhism or the ever dreaded Islam!
Can you imagine the savagery? Can you imagine the violence? Can you imagine the brutality? If little xtian children were REQUIRED by law to rise each day and pledge loyalty to Allah, to then get on their knees , face Mecca and pray to Allah?
I can imagine it…because such HYPOCRISY, such INTOLERANCE,such ZEALOTRY is nothing new to the world or this nation: as Madison said in his “Memorial and Remonstrance”, “During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What have been its fruits? More or less in all places, pride and indolence in the Clergy, ignorance and servility in the laity, in both, superstition, bigotry and persecution.”
Our Framers had experienced the lunacy of hypocrisy posed by the threat of tyranny of the majority, and the savagery of religious bigotry and intolerance, and the Framers sought to Draft a permanent remedy–the Constitution! But,many people today look to supplant the Constitution with their own demented moral agenda and their peculiar stripe of Christendom~~~and we must pledge eternal vigilance and hostility against such.~~~just as our Framers did!
“But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.”

Can you make the background of this page a different color? A black background with white print is hard on my eyes. Maybe its just me. But I cant stand it.
