		<description><![CDATA[Indeed people rarely know the history of the device which they are using.  In fact people treat a single device usually as a single device, in particular I find with smart phones, if people only knew the 40 year history of what is in your smart phones, how many 100&#039;s of thousands of people contributed tiny little bits of knowledge which make today&#039;s smart phones the success they are.  

Probably the one thing people are least aware of, is how a few experiments back in the 30&#039;s and 40&#039;s (I think that&#039;s the right time line, Davisson was one of the major contributors,) gave us proof for Quantum Field Effect, and lead directly to the transistor on a chip, which lead to our way of life today.  Of course QFE had been under development by people in the very early 1900&#039;s.   Those early Quantum Mechanic Theorists didn&#039;t even know what implications it would have on our world.  I&#039;m sure they had their own ideas, but they most likely didn&#039;t see a world full of computers, because in their day, *NO COMPUTERS*.  That&#039;s right the computers of today were in fact made possible by people in the 20&#039;s just *THINKING* (and writing stuff down, and doing calculations by hand.)    

So while today we take for granted what people in the 1920&#039;s thought about, we should continue to develop new technologies, and even just plain theoretical stuff, which could never be developed today. Because as far as ideas go, we&#039;re in the same boat as our predecessors of the 1920&#039;s, just as they had *NO COMPUTERS* we have *NO SOMETHING OR OTHER* and our great great great grand children will look back with ahh and wonder, that people could have figured out something like that by just thinking it through.    Or possibly they won&#039;t because we never came up with that idea that will spark the revolution in their lives.]]></description>
