Martinets Stifle Speech

(The following commentary is part of a weekly series called “Yahweh Speaks” by Yahweh.  Yahweh is an assumed name to protect his identity on-line.  He is a noted  free thought advocate and Constitutional attorney.  His series airs on my American Heathen® internet radio show. Airdate 02/04/11)
I  have been blogging on a site called “The Federalist Papers”, until I was recently banned.

The “reason” for my  banishment I’ll detail later.  First, I’ll give you a flavor of the one-sided martinet monitoring that goes on there.

“The Founders … generally acknowledged that Christianity was the belief of this nation, hence a “Christian Nation”, said  John Wood  who was NOT reprimanded.

“I guess you could say the entire Democratic party are made up of “Charlatans”….  Libertarians are the only true defenders of the Constitution, generally speaking”, said   Tom McPhillips, who was NOT sanctioned.

“… we have been experiencing a rash of Atheist Trolls who seem to have a singular purpost(sic) of hijacking every thread to attack ‘the Church’, Christianity, God, Jesus, Religion or any profession of faith in relation to the Founders, the Constitution, or the U.S. Government in any way possible”,  said Dan “the Martinet” Morissette.

“Dan Morrissette, are you the Federalist police? Maybe it would behoove you to actually interpret what you read. Fake patriotism is one-inch deep and extends as far as troll’s minds can expand, which is about one-inch, too. You smack of a fake-patriot; you all love to wrap yourselves in the flag…and pontificate about your patriotism. I can train a monkey to wave an American flag. That does not make the monkey patriotic”,said  Michael Lee Dunn who was IMMEDIATELY reprimanded as follows:

“Michael, I issued notice that we have been under attack by trolls. If you voluntarily choose to wear that label, I guess I wouldn’t need to state it. You have again violated the language rule and attacked Christians on this site.. Now it is time to get a grip on yourself, make a peace offering, and play nice or just not play at all”, said  Dan “the Martinet” Morissette. .

Now to  the cause for my banishment.

Another blogger , using the moniker, “McRight”  “M c R i g h t” said, in essence , “I did not come here to  see the good names and character of our glorious Founders besmirched , and for that matter, I do not want to see others malign talk show hosts who have the best interest of America at heart.”

Another blogger, we’ll call her “Tracey”, asked, in essence,“which talk show hosts are sacrosanct?”

I  chimed in , “Yeah, which talk show host are your sacred cows?”

Mr McRight said, “Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter”.

I then posted a  Teddy Roosevelt quote substituting “certain Talk show hosts” for the word “President”:

“The President( or  certain talk show hosts) is(are) merely(among) the most important among a large number of public servants. He( or They) should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his ( or their) good conduct or bad conduct, …. Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his (or Their) acts, and this means that it is exactly necessary to blame him ( or Them) when he does ( or they do) wrong as to praise him  (or them)when  he does( or they) (do) right. Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile. To announce that there must be no criticism of the President( or certain talk show hosts), or that we are to stand by the President( or certain talk show hosts), right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him( or certain talk show hosts) or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him(  or them) than about any one else.” (Teddy Roosevelt in the “Kansas City Star”, May 7, 1918)

Later, “Tracey”, used the quote,“the road to HELL…(is paved with good intentions”.  I used two  on my favorite quotes: “Give ‘em HELL, Harry” and  “The difference between a Democrat and a Republican is like the difference between a WARM bucket  and a COLD bucket of Piss”

Almost immediately, Dan, “the Martinet”, Morissette  snarled, “if you continue to use vulgarities you WILL be  banned.”

Of course,   “Tracey” and I protested this childish monitoring and tried to point out they were not vulgarities and they were famous historical quotes.

Another blogger, David, chimed in, in essence, “can you imagine what would happen if we mentioned that “Mary rode Joseph’s ASS into Jerusalem”?

Unable to resist , I said , ” can you imagine what would happen if I quoted  Mark 14:30, “Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the COCK crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.”

Can you imagine what then happened? I was promptly BANNED, as was David, and later Tracey.

That folks, is what today masquerades on certain blogs as the FREE, FULL, ROBUST, OPEN EXCHANGE OF THOUGHTS IN THE MARKET PLACE OF IDEAS.

Our Framers, including those who wrote the Federalist Papers, would be ROLLING in their GRAVES if they knew that IN THEIR NAMES certain blogs were stifling speech offered in opposition to the  “xtian nation” canard of 21st century xtian historical revisionists.

Finally, if time and inclination permit why don’t some of you haunt that site and GIVE ‘EM HELL?

“But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.”

One Response to “Martinets Stifle Speech”

  1. Ronald Bruce Meyer Says:

    Great commentary!

Yahweh, these sites are better off without you. They cannot compare with your intellect, perception or understanding. The only alternative I see to haunting this site and others like it, and getting myself banned, is to publicize the bias of the site and make sure everybody knows about it.

    Just a thought.
