Religion has had its day
Leave it to the Brits to actually GET IT!
Of course if that debate were held in the United States the audience would be intentionally filled with people from Pastor Jim’s MegaChurch of the Pompous, Glen Beck would be crying blood talking about how it was OBVIOUS the RED side would be wanting to rip Grandma’s crucifix off her still-cold corpse because that’s the side of the communists, and a quarter-wit retard from Alabama with five teeth and a mouth full of chaw would show up with a shotgun and homicidal intentions, guaranteeing the whole thing would be on the 6PM news for something OTHER than its original purpose.

That was great. Apparently, they also have better television. Of course, maybe it’s because their audience wasn’t stacked.
I’ve got to say the one on the blue team was quotable. “Your only job as a Christian is to walk around smiling at people and giving tramps money.” Um, we really need to drive that one home to American Christians and I might just start quoting him to every fundy nut who dares breathe repent at me.
Ah, gawd, apparently they’ve even got better Christians than we do.

Of course this show is a lot like one hosted by Lewis Black, I believe, in America. Funny. But I am more concerned with how the corporation is becoming an essence, and a god to replace all gods. If Monsanto can own the seeds that all the foodstuffs in the world are based upon, by patenting the genetically sequenced seeds used to grow the main ingredients, then the corporation will literally own ‘food,’ an entire category of things vital to human existence, in perpetuity. This means that if the soul will no longer be immortal (which, I agree, it never was), then at least the multinational corporation willl be–a terrifying thought. Secular ethicists like Peter Singer have pointed this out, but most atheists, and almost all believers, are still too busy arguing over nothing to pay attention. This is how new religions get started, a combination of distraction and biliousness.

Lewis Black hosts a show? Damn, I’ve got to get cable. I love him.
I agree about corporate America having far too much power but Pete Singer is a freaking nutcake who would outlaw meat and calls using animals for food, labor or pets specieism. Yeah, okay, uh huh. Like animals aren’t too domesticated to be independent of humans. Like having all animals run wild and free would be such a freaking good idea.
There’s not enough pit bulls biting children already. Let’s do away with the lease law altogether. There are places now that place the blame for hitting a cat or dog even late at night on the driver of the vehicle not the irresponsible pet owner. By all means, let’s call specieism and use animals to oppress people. Pete Singer needs a good shrink.
