(Editorial Comment from the American Heathen® radio show – Air Date 09/25/09)

Anti-Abortion, Anti- Health Care Bill, Anti-Gay Marriage, Anti-Obama, Anti-Secularism, Anti-Socialist… The word “Anti-” seems to be the big fashion statement for the Christian Nationalist Party.  They seem to think that the word “Anti-” gives them license to say and do anything they want, that anything is justifiable, as long as the result is getting exactly what they want.  When they, or the word “Anti-” , is questioned they claim that they are persecuted by Anti-Christians, Anti-Patriots and a whole host of other “Anti’s”.  Cries of persecution have also become their vogue since they lost the ’08 election with self-induced victimization as par for the course when it comes to their rhetoric.  Their claims of socialism, communism, fascism, decent into a mythological hell… all are fallacies that feed their propaganda machine.  Much like a terrible two year old tantrum, these unwarranted and absurdly ridiculous tirades are devoid of logic and reason. The tantrums are a self-absorbed, ego driven, skydaddy laden fit, a  pitiful need for attention.

As witnessed at the 9/12  march on Washington D.C., the Tea Bagger cry babies, a large part of the CNP base, with their myriad of signs, slogans and chants, underscored an important aspect of the party.  The base of the CNP doesn’t just have a few nuts dangling from the tree, it is festooned with them.  In fact, every branch of the CNP is collapsing under the weight of these fruits.   All demand immediate attention be paid to them, their conspiracy theories, their lies and conflagration.  And, they are willing to do anything to achieve those goals.  They’re “Anti-Everything”.  Sad but true.  But, when you take a good hard look at their claims, not one holds up to facts and evidence.   From the halls of Congress to the airwaves of media madness, from the back porch of the trailer to the blogosphere, from the  Courtroom to the Constitution,  these zealots wantonly step all over themselves, and everyone else, with every spoken or written word.  They make claims, so outrageous, so absurd, and without evidence, that one has to wonder how much hatred and bile it really takes to manufacture all of it.  But, manufacture they do, and it’s all “Anti-” this and “Anti-” that.

How many of you really believe this “Anti-” dung?  I mean, if you take a good hard look at the left, you don’t see a whole hell of a lot of “Anti-” anything.  For the most part, the left, albeit a bit spend thrift at times, doesn’t seem to dial in on the “Anti-” vitriol.  But, the CNP will whine about that, and take  issue.  They’ll say that secularism is “Anti-Christian”, that legal abortion is “Anti-Life”, that Gay Marriage is “Anti-Marriage”. They toss out “Anti’s” like they were rice kernels at a wedding!  But, how many bills are introduced each year by anyone other than the CNP that are “Anti-” anything?  None that I’m aware of.  I could be wrong, but as far as I can see, the only “Anti-” legislation being pushed in Congress comes from the CNP.   The “Anti-” crowd seems to relish “Anti-” everything, including “Anti-Semitism” and  “Anti-Civil Rights”.

“Anti-”  A word which bears the brunt of our current uncivil discourse, and a political party that wields the word with abandon, in an effort to seize control of our lives and strangle our liberty.

How much “Anti-” does it take to overthrow a country?  Give them any more “Anti’s” and we’ll soon find out.
