Innocence
(Editorial Comment from the American Heathen® radio show – Air Date 09/18/09)
The politics of the day have shed light on ignorance and complacency in this democratic republic. As the executors of our Constitution, we, the people, have neglected and relegated this magnificent document to tabloid status at best, at worst we have allowed it to be shredded, to be used as paper mache for a pinnate full of candy coated lies and outright deceit, and with bat in hand, the religious zealots swing blindly at it, hoping to reap some extraordinary self-reward. Whether a pat on the back, or something more ambitious and despicable, the reward sought is hidden behind self-proclaimed innocence. The electorate, the politicians and the pundits, all declare their innocence and cast the shadow of guilt upon their adversary with no evidence, no fact, no truth. A lie, spoken in defense of the in-defensible, becomes the shadow warrior…it appears, then disappears into the night, only to once again break from the shadows as its purpose desires.
A coy look, the wink of an eye, the seduction of power and greed lead to this innocence of word and mind. Indeed, those who have fallen prey to the enticements are smitten with innocence. They speak of lofty, noble, and honorable goals, but their innocence protects them when they do not deliver. They are innocent. Trust them. They are innocent. Believe them. They are innocent. Ignore them. But, truly, they ARE innocent.
But what are they innocent of? They are innocent of doing what is right, what is noble, what is honorable, what is good. They are innocent of following conscience, character, and commitment. They are innocent of duty, courage, conviction. Yes, they are innocent. Their claims of innocence are true. But, it is this juxtaposition of innocence that bathes the mind of the observer with the truth of their guilt. Yes, indeed they are innocent, at the expense of our Constitution, liberty and national honor. And for what? For a mere moment of self-righteous pride? Or, is it more than that? And what of those in the electorate who claim superior knowledge at the well of ignorance, those who perpetuate, instigate and encourage? Have they not discovered that this well is really a latrine, and they are engaged in a filthy frenzy of predation and inhuman debauchery? Yes, indeed! They are mighty in their innocence. And, in the end, they will never claim guilt. The charade they ply, the camouflage they wear, their yin and yang of innocence bears no resemblance to the innocence of those who have given all to the principles of liberty, that ALL men are equal. There is no bearing to the innocence of those who have died on the battlefields in the defense of ALL men, those who have given all in the name of freedom, and have left behind generations of empty hearts and sacrificed their children’s true innocence.
But, their innocence, those who play the game…their innocence is a costume, worn daily to exonerate themselves from the guilt hidden beneath the robes of their self-righteous glory. It is their pitiful armor, made from the poorest of metals, and in a state of rot, rust and decay, decay caused by the caustic sweat of their fear. Fear of being discovered, fear of revealing their true selves. Fear of truth, justice, liberty. They weave thin webs of innocence, with no structure to discern, void of conscience and direction, only to reflect the light of inquiry and impede access to the blackness of their hearts. Yes, they are innocent. And in their innocence, they must live with the heavy burden of truth, and their guilt. For truth is opaque when their faux innocence is held up to the light of liberty.
Hold these zealots up to the light of liberty. Show them for who they are. For they are the feces of human failure, the excrement of human greed. They are pitiful, needy, void of conscience, true compassion and empathy. They live in fear of human progress, and of themselves, and all for the pestilence of a myth.

RJ, I absolutely loved this when you read it last night. Excellent writing and you read it most powerfully. Keep up the good work and I can’t see how you could fail to wake up at least a few Americans. Hopefully, before it’s too late — if it isn’t already.
I also appreciated the comments about the infrastructure, including mass transit. It has become horrendous. I didn’t catch the phone number until the end of the show and something at my end gave me trouble signing on to the chat and I had too much to respond to but I impatiently posted below on the Glen Beck thread some rants about the state of mass transit.
Keep up the good work.
